Twitter has upped its limit to 280 characters. This extension lets you #KeepIt140 with the original, brutally terse experience.
Are you, like me, an aging luddite who looks upon change with scorn? Do you long for the days when writers were lashed to an arbitrary character limit to use a ridiculous website whose self-importance is dwarfed only by its total lack of a positive impact on society?
If you resent the sudden intrusion of sprawling long-winded 280 character tweets into your otherwise concise and well-manicured feed, install this extension to see them cut down to size. Any tweet that exceeds 140 characters will be truncated at its proper length and appened with a [more] link. If you hate yourself and regret your choice to value brevity over all else, simply hover over the [more] link, the tweet will expand to its authors’ full intended length, like a rotund pot-belly spilling out over a pair of slacks just barely holding together at the seams.
This extension only affects the homepage and individual user pages on twitter.com, and will not truncate tweets after you click on them or in the threads below them in pop-up modal windows.
